Latest Marketeers Carnival Club News

19-Nov-2003

Carnival is now over for this year and the club will take a few days off before we start on next years Carnival. Then comes one of our biggest jobs of the year and that is taking the cart apart would you believe that it takes longer to take apart than to build it? This years Carnival has been our most successful year since 1987 Call of the Indian Spirit when we won 4 Carnivals. As you may know Marketeers raffled Chickens Place on the float at Weston Carnival this year and you can find out more about this by clicking here and Marketeers would like to thank all who took part and donated money. Marketeers would also like to thank Pentathlon CC who helped us on the way to Shepton Mallet Carnival and everybody (Far to many to name) with this years Carnival.

We have now done 3 carnivals and have had a 1st , 2nd and 3rd placing we also have new owners of our headquarters we would like to wish Trevor and Jane all the best in there new venture and also wish Kim and Marc good luck for the future

Concerts are now over for this year and Marketeers would like to thank all the clubs who made our concerts a fanatic event.

We have now completed the first week of stage and we are very pleased with how is has gone. You will be able to see our show on this site after the concert has finished the cart is coming on very well but we could always use more help so if you have a bit of free time and fancy having a go at building a Carnival Cart just turn up at The Halfway Inn on the Westonzoyland Rd and ask for Alan Windsor, he will be more than happy to show you round and tell you what's needed. Marketeers would like to wish all Carnival Clubs good luck for the 2003 season

Marketeers where runners up in the Carnival Cricket losing to the Lime Kiln by 1 run, played at the Bridgwater Cricket Club a good day was had by all you can see photos of this event here. It is only 6 weeks to the Carnival Concert now and Rehearses are well under way now we cant tell you what we are doing just yet but watch this site as on the first day of the concert all will be revealed!! Work is also well under way on our cart but as you can see from the photo below there is a long way to go

Work is now under way for our 2003 entry and you are right we are not going to tell you our idea just yet. Carnival is not just a 6 week event it is an all year event and over the last few months we have worked hard on our shed it has been rewired and a new lighting system has been installed, also work is under way for us to improve the layout of the shed to make more room for the building of the cart.

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Thank you all for your kind messages you have sent us following the death of our Chief Marshal Ivor Radford.

Many of you have requested details of the funeral arrangements.

The funeral service will be held at St. Mary's Church, North Petherton on Saturday 18th January 2003 at 13:30/1.30pm.

Thank you all again and all the e-mails you have sent us will be printed off and passed to North Petherton Committee for forwarding onto Ivor's wife and family.
